Global Insulation (European) Ltd has a longstanding working relationship with Kline (LNG) where we have carried out various works on their vessels, one namely being the Arctic Discoverer. As she is a working vessel, all marine insulation works were carried out in transit, primarily in the arctic circle.

Initial works carried out were mainly on a thermal basis where the vessel was experiencing a lot of condensation within the bridge deckhead area.

Global Insulation (European) Ltd was commissioned by Aluminium Marine Consultants, based in Cowes, Isle of Wight. The working history of our two companies spans more than two decades. We were required to write and implement the Passive Fire and Thermal Insulation requirements for two 22m WFSV’s and two 24m WFSV’s, the vessels being of Aluminium construction.

As with all marine construction, reducing weight is the overall key factor. The specification required an A60 to Aluminium Construction. We presented to Aluminium Marine Consultants a Ceramic LT System which was applied to the Forward and Aft Bulkheads, Deckheads, and Ship’s Sides, inboard and outboard, using Global Insulation’s aluminium boss system. This system is a robust fixing system which we have installed on all our aluminium constructed vessels for the past two decades.

On the lower half of the Engine Room Global Insulation fabricated Aluminium sheet metal to follow the contour of the vessel to further enhance the lifespan of the insulation material installed.

We worked closely with the design team at Aluminium Marine Consultants to provide a specification which would not only provide a high value thermal property, but would also carry an effective acoustic barrier for the Lower Deck Crews Accommodation and the Main Saloon and Wheelhouse areas of the vessel. The system we applied was of a wrap profile therefore reducing installation time.

Global Insulation (European) Ltd were commissioned by Shemara Refit LLP to provide a full specification for passive fire systems to the Port and Starboard Main Engine Rooms to an A60 specification to aluminium construction.

This is the first High Speed vessel which has been constructed to serve the Solent crossing from Southampton to West Cowes, Isle of Wight. The vessel was commissioned by Red Funnel who operates a Fast Cat and conventional service for this stretch of water.

We had the pleasure of working with Mr Roy Whitewood, who was the Senior Project Manager to oversee the whole construction contract. With weight being the key factor we specified and installed a Ceramic LT system. Beneath the Bridge Area we installed as an A30 to aluminium construction.

We also provided a full specification and installed all Thermal and Acoustic requirements for the comfort of passengers.

Trearddur Bay

Global Insulation (European) Ltd was extremely proud to be commissioned by Aluminium Marine Consultants, based in Cowes, Isle of Wight to write and implement the Passive Fire and Thermal Insulation requirements for Trearddur Bay. This vessel was the First of Class to have the Voith Linear Jet Propulsion System worldwide.

MO2 Mainprize - First of Class Vessel

Global Insulation (European) Ltd is pleased to announce that June 2015 brought the completion of the First of Class Vessel for Burgess Marine. We were commissioned by Burgess Marine to write and install a fully comprehensive Passive Fire System to the Main Machinery Spaces to an A60 to Aluminium on board the vessel MO2 Mainprize. This vessel is a High Performance Craft for the offshore turbine industry.

Wightlink - Ferries and Fast Cats

One of our most outstanding, long term, clients has been Wightlink Ferry Operators between Portsmouth Mainland to the Isle of Wight.

We have been associated with Wightlink since 2000 and undertake all of their annual marine thermal insulation maintenance, especially for the main engine exhaust systems where we use high temperature materials.

Wind Turbine Vessel Insulation

Global Insulation (European) Ltd has been involved with the Wind Turbine Industry, Off-shore, for almost a decade.

Prior to South Boats Special Projects dissolving we were the main marine insulation contractor where we commissioned to write specifications for Aluminium Structure to “A” Class Passive Fire and to provide all thermal requirements.  Throughout the course of the company’s life span, we installed materials on over 30 vessels.

Our involvement in marine insulation for this sector continues with our associations with Aluminium Marine Consultants of the Isle of Wight, Mustang Marine, Turbine Transfer and Holyhead Towage.

We also have a strong marketplace within the composite marine market working with companies such as Ctruk, Blyth Workcats, Mercurio Plastics of Spain, to mention but a few.
